When we do not receive or accept encouragement or exhortation, then it becomes a dead church. How do I take correction? Let us learn from Cain’s life. He should have gone to his brother, and Abel would have corrected and taught him. Attitude of Joseph of forgiveness and encouragement and lifted his brothers. Encouraging another person is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:8. John 13:34: Love one another. Romans 14:13. Romans 15:5: Have the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus. Romans 15:7: Accept one another just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God. 2 Cor 13:11: Be like minded, live in peace. Colossians 3:13: Bearing with one another and forgiving each other. Ephesians 4:32. Ephesians 5:22. Philippians 2:5. Hebrews 10:25: Not forsaking our own assembling together but encourage one another and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

How I react when someone corrects me, that will show our spiritual state. Psalms 141:5: Let the righteous smite me, it is like oil upon the head. 1 Samuel 10:27: Others despised him but he kept silent. 1 Samuel 11:12,13. Saul had the spirit of forgiveness. He was humble and god-fearing in the initial time. After some years, his attitude changed. 1 Samuel 18:8. From being humble, he became proud. Numbers 12:3; Numbers 16:4: Moses was a humble man. Are the words that come out of my mouth encouraging or despising. When I am faithful in small things, I will be faithful also in much. Difference between Peter and Judas. Mark 14:4-6,10. Judas went out and decided to betray Jesus. Peter was called Satan by Jesus but he did not react negatively.

Acts 3: Barnabas was called the son of encouragement. We need to first learn to encourage and then correct like in Revelation where Jesus does to the 7 churches.

Gen 15:1; 26:24: When God gives a promise, He also encourages. God told Moses to encourage Joshua. Do I accept correction by someone who is younger to me. We need to first learn to encourage and appreciate and then correct.

Proverbs 3:12. Revelation 3:12. Joseph was zealous and sincere when he was falsely accused. Job also was zealous and had the fear of God. We need to be zealous and repent. Having the presence of God with us always.
