Luke 18:9-14: Some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and viewed others with contempt, thinking that they are better than others. We need to be humble before God like the tax collector knowing that we are sinners. He wanted the life of God. Galatians 1:13-17: Revelation of Jesus in us, not on the outside, not just the verses. Having the life of Jesus in me, not just activity. 2 Cor 13:5: Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith, if Jesus is in you. Eternal life is here on the earth. Having the essence (fragrance) of Christ in us. Jesus to increase and I decrease. Having the treasure of God in this earthen vessel. Romans 8:10: If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. God looks at the heart. Knocking and seeking for this life of Christ in us. Not my life being spoken about but the life of Christ.
2 Cor 13:5: Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith, if Jesus is in you. Focus on ourself and not on others. Luke 18:9: Some people trusted in themselves that they were righteous and viewed others with contempt. Luke 18:13, 14: Publican acknowledged his sin and went home justified. Am I fed up with myself or with others. Philippians 2:5-8: Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus. Having the humility of Jesus in us. Do I hold on to what God has blessed me with and seek honor from others? As long as we focus on others, we will never make progress.
We become judgemental about others. Learning to be nonjudgmental about others or some other church. Learning to be humble is the goal this year for me.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Knowing our need and condition like Paul. Philippians 3:12: Not that I have already obtained but I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward of God. 1 Peter 2:2: like newborn babies, long for the [a]pure [b]milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.
I was praying for someone who cannot pray for himself. If Jesus can take care of our physical needs, how much more of our spiritual needs. 1 John 5:14: This is the confidence which we have before Him that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Jesus valued all people more than material things. God gave material things to use and people to love. Not holding on to material things.
Value people more than material things. Not having a judgemental attitude to others.
Having a strong hidden secret life. 1 Cor 4:5: Do not pass judgement before time, the Lord will bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s heart.
As we come closer to God, we can see more of our sin. We are the fragrance of Christ.
