Form of godliness or real godliness – Daniel Thomas

Having the life of Jesus, not just doing the right things. 2 Timothy 3:5: Holding to a form of godliness but denying its power. Always learning and never able to come to the truth. Am I connected to Jesus?
Characteristics of a person not connected to Jesus
1. Interested in hearing the word of God but not doing it.
2. Self righteous. John 8:31: If you continue in my word then you are truly disciples of Mine. Luke 16:14,15: You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men.
3. 1 Timothy 4:7,8,12: Discipline yourself in speech. 1 Timothy 3:16: Jesus Christ was revealed in the flesh. Knowing God and Jesus is eternal life. Philippians 3:9: Having the power of God in our life. Gospel is the power of God that gives me power to overcome. Colossians 2:7: Having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Jesus death and resurrection and all my past sins have been blotted out. Satan has no power over me. My old man has died and I’m a new creation. Having confidence in God as a Father. God is able to give us abundant life.
