Daniel Thomas – The Leaven of Pharisees

Daniel
Matthew 15:8,9: This people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. Luke 12:1,2: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Matthew 23: They say many things but do not do them. 23:7,8 – Desire honor from men. 23:14 – For a pretense make long prayers. 23:23 – Tithe mint and dill and cummin and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. 23:25, 26 – Clean the inside of the cup and dish so that outside of it may become clean also. 23:27 – You are like whitewashed tombs. Jesus wants us to focus on the inside. John 5:39: You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life. Word of God should lead us to Christ and receive the life of Jesus. Matthew 23:4: They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men’s shoulders. We need honest acknowledgement of our hypocrisy. Contrasting attitude of tax collector and Pharisee in the parable. Having a cry in our heart for a change.

Abraham
Our life should speak more than our words. Being honest about who we really are. Giving the right image at home with our children. Far better to be honest than religious. 2 Timothy 3:5: holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power.

Biju
Having the right attitude at home with my children. Having the right spirit of being honest and what is from the heart.

Regina
Criticized seeing the fall in others and judged them and then fell in the same way. I need to be free from judging others.

Akhil
God has helped me in my exams and I’m thankful to God for that.

Luke 18:18: The rich young ruler versus the attitude of Abraham. Abraham gave up his most prized possession of his son but the rich young ruler rejected Jesus when asked to give all his money to the poor.

Nygam
God showed the pride in me when people praised me, but God is changing me.

Pooja
We might not sin outside but in our thoughts. Jesus said he came to save sinners. Any sin can separate me from Christ. Taking every sin seriously and repenting. Need to feed my spirit with the word of God just as I feed by body with food.

Lizy
God is changing me and making me natural. 1 Peter 3:3,4: Your adornment must not be merely external – braiding the hair and wearing gold jewelry or putting on dresses but a gentle and quiet spirit which is very precious to God.

A little leaven leavens everything. So we need to be careful of small leaven in our life. Whatever is inside will come out one day.

It is not the earthen vessel that is important but the glory of God that is revealed from it. Hebrews 12:1-3: Let us lay aside every encumbrance and sin which so easily entangles us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Holy Spirit will be our helper to point us where we are wrong and help us to be in the right path.
