Hebrews 12:15: See to it that that anyone comes short of the grace of God having a root of bitterness and many will be defiled.
Know the seriousness of bitterness. It is harmful to me more than others. We defile others as well. Holy Spirit is willing to help us in forgiving.
Reaction of Jesus when others treated him badly: Forgive them for they know not what they do. Jesus had a Spirit of forgiveness, not of revenge.
Matthew 18:21. Forgive others as God has forgiven us, any number of times.
Compassion towards others helps us to release and forgive others. When we do not forgive others, we are torturing ourselves. Forgiveness should be in the heart and not just saying with our mouth. Our forgiveness depends also on our forgiving others.
Colossians 3:12,13: Forgiving others just as the Lord forgave me if I have any complaint against anyone.
Overflowing attitude of forgiveness, not a legalistic type.
Genesis 50:19: As for you meant for evil, but God meant it for good.
Genesis 50:21: Joseph: Take care of them, comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
2 Cor 2:6-8: reaffirming our love to others who have hurt us badly.
Forgiving others after seeing how much God has forgiven me.
