James 1:26: If anyone thinks he is religious and does not control his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Holy Spirit can change the way I speak. Romans 3:13, 14: “Their throat is an open grave,With their tongues they keep deceiving,” “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”. Proverbs 16:28: A perverse man spreads strife and a slanderer separates intimate friends. Proverbs 20:19: Do not associate with a gossip. Proverbs 26:20: Where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down. Crucifying the desire to spread gossip as well as listening to gossip. James 3:9-11: But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Titus 2:3: Not being malicious gossips. Matthew 12:34-37: You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Isaiah 6:5-7: Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.” Proverbs 25:11: Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a word spoken in right circumstances.

1 Peter 2:1,2: Lay aside all malice, all deceit and all hypocrisy and all envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.

We need to speak with grace which God can give. I asked grace to be soft in speech. Tongue is like fire, it can do good or evil. Have I kept my tongue for only good or only evil. We need to change from the inside.

God has taken out the desire to know about others. 1 Peter 4:8: Above all, keep fervent love for one another. Love covers a multitude of sin. If I have love for someone, I will not speak evil of that person.
